Job Summary
The Special Assistant, under general supervision, performs various special projects assigned by the President. The Special Assistant to the President will develop strategies that will result in improved enrollment yield and institutional attention to retention management. This position is a temporary position and is expected to end no later than August 31, 2023.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage special projects assigned by the President.
Prioritize and manage multiple retention projects.
Identify opportunities to create processes, initiatives, and systems to streamline retention efforts.
Develops, implements, and evaluates programs to enhance retention of students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
Communicates with faculty, staff, and students in writing, verbally, electronically, and/or by telephone regarding retention issues.
May serve as a mentor to individuals on various committees related to enrollment and retention at Texas A&M University-Kingsville
Serves as a resource to the Division of Academic Affairs

Minimum Requirements
Education - Ph.D. in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - Seven years of related experience in academic leadership.
Knowledge of - Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of academic advising, budgetary processes, and Texas A&M University System (TAMUS) policies, rules, and procedures.
Ability to - Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
Supervision of Others
This position generally does not supervise employees.
